You battle naval From the Antiquity, the sea and its boats have waked up the interest of numerous artists to the point to become a subgenus with their own iconographic peculiarities within the history of the painting. Within this I generate singular, emphasize the naval battles, whose last propagandistic aim not only was to mitificar an historical fact but also to raise the marine power of a nation. The linen cloths of Veronese and Tintoretto on the battle of Lepanto, the English romantic pictures of the Turner and Constable on the battle of Trafalgar, are good examples of the political and commemorative character of a pictorial subject that also it illustrates on different questions like the naval architecture or the warlike strategies to us. The Valencian painter Eduardo Romaguera has seted out to reinterpretar and to modernize the sort of the naval battle through a series of pictures in which the competing sailboats of the América's Cup are protagonists, that is celebrated in Valencia in 2007. In a certain sense, the great international appointment of the sport of the candle is still a naval battle in that several nations protected by the patronage of great companies and corporations face, counting on the last technological innovations within the scope of navigation and on the most qualified teams of navigators. The glorious deeds that can provide the América's Cup in waters of the Western Mediterranean, next to the Valencian coast, no longer will be warlike but sport, but for that reason it will not decrease the intensity of the fight to reach the victory. In this bloodless war on the sea the triumphant pavilions of the British Empire or Spanish Corona, but the logos of the companies will not be hoisted that have sponsored the winning sailboat. The times change, and thus they reflect the touching pictures of Eduardo Romaguera, where the blue intensity of the ocean and the powerful architecture of the competing boats are present. It is still an exquisite anachronism that in these times of sophisticated audio-visual technologies, where everything is registered and spread to world-wide scale immediately, Eduardo Romaguera resorts to as traditional means as the painting to offer his personal artistic testimony on the great naval battle of the America's Cup. Lucas Soler Eduardo Romaguera (Valencia, 1976) is licensed in the Faculty of Beautiful Arts of Valencia and has carried out diverse works and specialization courseses in Mexico. He has individually exposed in the gallery d'Arts of Valencia and the House of Culture Victor of the Rivers of Santander. Also he has comprised of diverse collective exhibitions in rooms of the Valencian Community.
Batalles navales

Desde la Antigüedad, el mar y sus embarcaciones han despertado el interés de numerosos artistas hasta el punto de convertirse en un subgénero con sus peculiaridades iconográficas propias dentro de la historia de la pintura. Dentro de este genero singular, destacan las batallas navales, cuyo último fin propagandístico no sólo era mitificar un hecho histórico sino también exaltar el poderío marítimo de una nación. Los lienzos de Veronese y Tintoretto sobre la batalla de Lepanto, los cuadros de los románticos ingleses Turner y Constable sobre la batalla de Trafalgar, son buenos ejemplos del carácter político y conmemorativo de un tema pictórico que también nos ilustra sobre cuestiones distintas como la arquitectura naval o las estrategias bélicas.
El pintor valenciano Eduardo Romaguera se ha propuesto reinterpretar y modernizar el género de la batalla naval a través de una serie de cuadros en la que son protagonistas los veleros competidores de la América’s Cup, que se celebra en Valencia en 2007. En cierto sentido, la gran cita internacional del deporte de la vela no deja de ser una batalla naval en la que se enfrentan varias naciones amparadas por el mecenazgo de grandes empresas y corporaciones, contando con las últimas innovaciones tecnológicas dentro del ámbito de la navegación y con los más cualificados equipos de navegantes. Las gestas gloriosas que puede deparar la América’s Cup en aguas del Mediterráneo Occidental, junto a la costa valenciana, ya no serán bélicas sino deportivas, pero no por ello mermará la intensidad de la lucha por alcanzar la victoria. En esta incruenta guerra sobre el mar no se izarán los pabellones triunfadores del Imperio Británico o la Corona Española, sino los logotipos de las empresas que han patrocinado al velero ganador. Los tiempos cambian, y así lo reflejan los emotivos cuadros de Eduardo Romaguera, donde están presentes la intensidad azul del océano y la poderosa arquitectura de las embarcaciones competidoras. No deja de ser un anacronismo exquisito que en estos tiempos de sofisticadas tecnologías audiovisuales, donde todo se registra y difunde inmediatamente a escala mundial, Eduardo Romaguera recurra a un medio tan tradicional como la pintura para ofrecer su personal testimonio artístico sobre la gran batalla naval de la America’s Cup.

Eduardo Romaguera (Valencia, 1976) es licenciado en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de Valencia y ha realizado diversos trabajos y cursos de especialización en México. Ha expuesto individualmente en la galería d’Arts de Valencia y en la Casa de Cultura Víctor de los Ríos de Santander. También ha formado parte de diversas exposiciones colectivas en salas de la Comunidad Valenciana.
